Introducing Roger Livesey

Roger Livesey will be one of the Conservative candidates at next year's Dover District Council elections for the Aylesham, Eythorne & Shepherdswell ward.

Roger Livesey was born and raised in Ormskirk in West Lancashire and currently lives in Eythorne.

Roger’s mother’s ancestors are the Potters of Shepherdswell who migrated North in search of work in the 1800’s and indeed the grave of his ancestor is located in St. Andrew’s churchyard in Shepherdswell.

On his father’s side, Roger is the direct descendant of the teetotalism founder Joseph Livesey of Preston, who was famous for social reform, establishing representation of the people, providing suffrage, and providing the first university education outside of the elite group of Oxford and Cambridge in the form of what is now called UCLAN, located in Preston in Lancashire.

The Livesey name is heavily connected with Kent as the Livesey family were once Sheriff’s of Kent.

Roger is a retired aeronautical engineer and is now an academic, and highly qualified university researcher and specialises in social care and community sciences.

Roger has served on Chorley Borough Council, as the Borough Councillor for Clayton North, on Clayton-le-Woods Parish Council as a representative for Clayton West and Cuerden, served as a governor many primary and secondary schools and champions disability causes. He has been the Chairman of many community groups and organisations, and he has a proven pedigree of achieving much for residents and a prime example is he ensured and helped design play and leisure and traffic calming schemes that were implemented in Clayton North.

Roger hope’s now to serve the communities of the Aylesham, Eythorne and Shepherdswell Ward of Dover District Council.
