Introducing Susan Davenport
Susan will be the Conservative candidate at next year's Dover District Council elections for Middle Deal
Susan Jennifer Davenport was born in 1960 in Hackney, London making her a cockney, although you would never know it from her accent. She went to the same primary school as Marc Bolan, Helen Shapiro and Lord Alan Sugar, but not at the same time.
Susan lived in Sidcup for about 47 years, moving to Dover to retire in February 2021. She has been interested in politics since the age of 18 when she voted Conservative in the 1979 general election for the first time. She has voted Conservative at every election since then.
Whilst in Sidcup, she was active in politics, becoming Secretary of the Sidcup ward and later on, Political Officer. She sat on the Executive Committee of the local Association. She has extensive experience of doorstep canvassing and delivering leaflets. She sat on a Safer Neighbourhood Police Committee for many years in Sidcup. She was a school governor at Blackfen School for Girls where she was Chairman of the Head Teacher’s Pay Review Committee and Chairman of the School Improvement Committee.
Susan has a law degree and has taught Introduction to Criminology and Introduction to Buddhism at an adult education college in Sidcup.
Susan now lives in Dover with her two dogs, a Westie and a Cocker Spaniel. She is just about to start her third year of a part-time Open University degree course in Classical Studies and will start learning Latin in October 2022.
Susan is honoured to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Middle Deal and will do her utmost to win the seat for the Conservative Party.
